The device is small, lightweight and easy to operate. Many patients who were unhappy with their results from other balance treatments or rehabilitation have improved their balance through BrainPort Balance Plus training.

How Does the BrainPort Balance Plus Work?
The BrainPort Balance Plus device provides precise information about head/body position via electrotactile stimulation of your tongue. Electrotactile stimulation refers to controlled, gentle electrical impulses.
These impulses provide sensory information about the position of your head/body. Impulses on the right side of your tongue mean you are leaning to the right; impulses on the left side of your tongue mean you are leaning to the left, etc. You use this information to help improve your balance and posture.
In order to achieve maximum benefit, we recommend you train with the device twice a day for 20 minutes per session. Many patients who use the device consistently retain improved balance between the daily treatment sessions. The process of regaining balance differs from patient to patient and depends on the severity of the balance disorder. In general, patients feel an initial benefit within the first three to five days.
Initial BrainPort Balance Plus training is offered at select clinics that specialize in balance rehabilitation. They can then offer you a device to be used daily in your home.
Where Can I Try It?
We have received multiple requests regarding availability of the device, often due to Dr. Norman Doidge's book, "The Brain That Changes Itself" or multiple YouTube videos. In response to all the requests, the BrainPort Balance Plus is being offered by select physical therapy clinics that specialize in balance therapy in Canada. The device is licensed by Health Canada and only available through these clinics:
